Collecting Autographs Through the Mail
Do you collect autographs through the mail, or would you like to start but don't know how to find accurate addresses? Either way, I'm here to help! I am offering current, working celebrity addresses, all of which have had personal responses from the celebrity within the past 30 days. There are over 300 addresses this month, so at a price of $2.99 that is less than a penny each!
I have been collecting autographs for over 25 years, of both the in-person and through-the-mail variety for the entire time. During that time I have received hundreds upon hundreds of signed photographs, just a few of which are pictured here. I have also learned how to increase my odds of success and utilize only the most up-to-date addresses and send requests to those celebrities most likely to respond. I use numerous different sources to find addresses for celebrities that will yield results, and I am now offering those results to you so you don't have to work so hard to get the autographs of your favorite stars!
All of these addresses have had responses for autograph requests from the celebrity; I do my best to eliminate not only non-working addresses, but also those that send out pre-prints or are known or suspected of having a secretarial signature (that is, someone else signing items for the celebrity) or autopen. For this reason you will not see very many active athletes or politicians on the list; I can certainly get the address, but the likelihood of an authentic autograph is diminished with those two groups specifically. I also try to keep those who charge for autographs off the list (most typically some retired Hall of Fame athletes, but also some actors). You can be confident that by using the addresses I provide in a timely manner, your odds of receiving the autographs you want improve dramatically over your current success rate.
A bit of information now about the addresses. These addresses are accurate as of this writing. As we all know, celebrity addresses can change frequently, so use these soon to keep your success rate high. Some of the addresses are through some sort of representation (talent agency, publishing company, etc.), some appear to be home or office addresses, and a few are even fan club addresses, but all of them have been successful very recently. Also, if a person appears on the list who is of non-U.S. descent, in all likelihood the address will be outside the United States, thus requiring extra postage for the autograph request.
Now for some free advice, to increase your success rate even more. First, always send an SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope); many celebrities will not respond otherwise. Second, if possible, send something for the celebrity to sign (photo, sports card, index card, etc.). Though many celebrities have their own photos, you will find you have greater success if you send an item of your own. Third, I always write a hand-written letter telling the celebrity why I am a fan of their work. Finally, be patient. Sometimes you will receive a response in less than a week, and sometimes it can take more than two years. There are various reasons for this, but you will be rewarded, in many cases, if you just have a bit of patience.
